Weaverville Vacation!

Well, last month Jake and I took a little trip to my little slice of paradise, good ol' Weaverville, CA. I was so happy to finally show Jake where I grew up and to take him to all my old hang outs. We had a wonderful time and I only wish the trip could of been longer. So, I thought I would write a little blog entry with a few of our favorite memories from the trip. Here goes!

1. We drove all the way from Rexburg to Reno,NV in one night. We got there about 1:30 AM. Got up the next morning and left from Reno to Redding, CA. Now, from Rexburg to Susanville, CA it's nothing but ugly disgusting desert... BORING. As soon as we passed Susanville, we got into Lassen National Forest. I used to go fishing there a lot as a kid and would climb
Mount Lassen with my family or friends. Jake could not get over how many trees th
ere were. He kept saying "Oh My Gosh! It's like an endless tunnel of trees!", I took the opportunity to explain tree husbandry to him, and how crucial it was to our state economy. Annnyways, We stopped at a place inside the park called "The Subway Caves"; when Mount Lassen erupted it created these really cool lava tubes, so we went exploring! It was a blast.

#2. We hung out in Redding for a bit, met up with my parents, played with the dogs, and went to the sundial bridge and ate at In-N-Out.

#3 We finally made it to Weaverville! We went and saw a movie at the Trinity Theater, Spent the day at Trinity Lake and stayed the night in a Hotel that was built during the Gold Rush. Super cool. I think my favorite thing was taking Jake to Trinity Lake. He freaked out - he had never seen a lake so big in his life, I loved that it made him happy. We went to a smaller lake too called "Whiskeytown Lake". We also met up with a few of my childhood friends which was pretty great. Here are some Weaverville Pics. I also took Jake over to Mount Shasta.. Which he thought was pretty big... and it is.. It's massive.

Overall, it was a wonderful trip, we had a complete blast together. When it was time to head back to Rexburg we reluctantly packed our things and made the long drive to Boise then finished it up to Rexburg the next morning, where we both had work waiting for us... back to work it is. Our next adventure is hopefully going to be Denver to see our niece get sealed to my sister and brother in law then down South for Jordan's wedding. We'll see where everything leads I guess. Hope you all are well! We miss you!

P.S. sorry if there are some grammar mistakes in this entry, it was written in a bit of a hurry.

How fun to grow up somewhere so beautiful. I always wish we lived somewhere beautiful. Really beautiful. I keep pushing your Dad for Denver, but he says he will never leave Murrieta. I have no idea why!

  4. Jake, I love your hair too. It's so curly. I love it.
Remember when you were little and your hair was so curly and we piled it up as high as we could before you went to have your haircut.
You laughed and thought it was funny until we saw the barber. Then you were embarrassed and burst into tears! Ohhh, poor little Jacob.
