Jake and I volunteer at the Rexburg Animal Shelter nearly every week and we love it. It has become one of our favorite ways to spend time together. While working there we have become attached to one particular dog, her name is Foxy. She is a collie mix. Foxy was the sweetest and most well behaved dog at the shelter.. We liked to go and visit her and make sure she had a good walk and a nice visit as often as possible. Last Saturday we found out she was put into foster care and her adoption was pending. We were very excited to hear that. Since we were there we thought we would go ahead and walk the other dogs and play with them a bit. Thats when it happened...
We walked out into the outdoor kennel.. There we saw 4 dogs. Hiding behind a Great Pyrenese and trying to stay warm was Sammi. A little runt who we now think is a Shepherd/Boston mix... (really weird). When we started playing fetch with the dogs she would not chase the ball but would rather stay as close to us as possible. We fell for her like a ton of bricks. We took her inside to get some more info on her, while we were in there couples kept walking in and it seemed like everyone had their eyes on Sammi. However, Jake was holding her so tight and there was no way that we were going to go home without her. Thats when I let Officer Buzzel know that we were going to finally adopt one of their dogs.
We took her home and it was a perfect fit. She is the most well behaved puppy I have ever seen. We are glad that we happen to find her. I think we are both pretty attached to her already.
Its fuzzy! I think that DOG is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI
also have A dog named Chewbacca. When you guys come down bring your dog to visit mine. My dog needs to go to dog school. He jumps on us too much. Does your dog need to go to dog school for anything? From your cousin, Reeve
She is too cute! Congrats on your new addition! Ü
ReplyDeleteAre we all turning into dog lovers, or what? Jacob what's happened to us?
ReplyDeleteWe both have a dog! I thought we didn't like "to touch dirty farm animals."
Remember you told me that when you're brother was trying and almost did catch a duck at the St. George rodeo? I still don't like to touch dirty farm animals and our dog scares me, but I'm a dog owner. Jordy fed our dog potato chips the other day. He shared them with her and when the dog was chewing and eating them he said,"She sounds like Snoopy." It made me so happy that he remembered Snoopy Come Home and Snoopy crunching deliciously- sounding, away on his bones.
Well, be sure and share your potato chips with your new puppy. She is very cute, and I'm happy she is so good natured. I hope she never jumps on you or your furniture or up on your bed when you're fast asleep.
Yep! That happened to me when I had gone to bed and The Littles let her in! Oh, I just love having a dog!
